Sherri's
Background
I
am part of the latest generation of accomplished seamstresses in my
family. My sewing career began at a very early age (5) with the design
and hand-sewing of doll's clothes. Within a few years I had constructed
my first simple slipcovers for the furniture in my dollhouse (I didn't
like the original fabric color). I continued to sew clothing and home
décor items. In between, I pursued a career in Occupational Therapy,
but still found time to create things with fabric. Having my own home
fueled my interest in home décor; this lead to experimenting with
slipcovering existing furniture pieces in my home and eventually for
others.
I love creating
with fabric, transforming pieces from "before" to "after," improving
the family-friendliness of furnishings, and up-cycling furniture to
extend its useful life.
