Furniture to Slipcover Many different kinds of upholstered furniture can be slipcovered. However, some styles can be covered with better results than others. Living room chairs that have a separate seat cushion work well because the cushion helps keep the cover in place. If there is no seat cushion, the slipcover will require a little more attention to keep it looking tidy. Pieces that have tufting may require additional work if you want to minimize the look of the tufting on the finished chair. Generally, leather or vinyl pieces are more difficult to cover successfully because the base material is slippery. Dining chairs / barstools will require the seat cover to be tied or otherwise fastened to the chair to keep it in place.
